Emir Timur Mausoleum
The internet hardly needs my photos. But I do like capturing the image of a famous place as seen from an ordinary view, like this:

Timur spared women and children. Genghis Khan allowed children half the height of a wagon wheel to live. When Timur saw the original arch for Bibi Khanim’s mausoleum he hung the builders because it was not grand (tall) enough.
Obligatory snapshots of Timur’s mausoleum included here:

Isn’t our big bus adorable?

Why are all the cars white? Uzbekistan is 72% desert. Don’t want to have to wash the dust off every day, so get a white car. The sun is hotter in Uzbekistan. Was 48-49 degrees in July this year.
Registan Square
Registan means ‘a sandy place’. Even more famous. Even more photographed. Aware of (not) duplicating what everyone else has posted.

Bibi Xonim Mosque
Did you know the blind were traditionally chosen to be muezzin so they would not see women in their yards from the minaret? Why would a star have 5 points? For the 5 acts of faith. Why would a star have 8 points? For the 8 doors to paradise.

Siyob Dehqon Bazaar
The Siyob river is made up of 30 streams. Hallissa is lamb fat and wheat that has been boiled. Plov requires flax seed oil.
